Building Antique Journal: Zero-Knowledge AI Semantic Memory & Tactile Editorial Canvas

Most modern note-taking apps are cluttered with noisy collaboration notifications and complex markdown toolbars. With Antique Journal, our goal was to recreate the meditative presence of writing on archival paper while providing intelligent AI semantic recall without compromising personal privacy.
1. Recreating the Tactile Weight of Paper
We paired editorial serif typography with subtle CSS grain shaders and warm ivory color palettes (#fafaf8) to deliver an organic, distraction-free writing environment with seamless continuous autosave.
2. Client-Side Vector Search & Semantic Recall
Instead of uploading journal entries to cloud databases, entries are embedded and indexed locally using client-side vector embeddings. Users can ask natural questions like "What were my thoughts on career changes last spring?" and retrieve related memories in milliseconds.
3. The Emotional Chronometer Topography
A one-gesture mood chronometer logs emotional cadence across calm, grateful, inspired, resilient, and pensive states, helping users visualize long-term emotional growth.
4. Zero-Knowledge Encryption & Privacy
Entries are encrypted using AES-GCM before storage with client-side derived keys, ensuring that zero unencrypted prose ever leaves the user's browser.
